How does selling your precious materials work?

Bring your gold by

You bring your pieces to our shop in Oss or send us photos in advance so we can do an initial estimate.

Valuation & provenance

We look at layer thickness, purity, any gemstones and provenance. You will hear immediately what your gold is worth.

Quotation & payment

You get a fair price with full transparency; upon agreement, we pay cash or by bank transfer (whichever you prefer).

What do we do with your gold?

We ensure responsible recycling and process what is not usable. You can have the gold incorporated into another piece of jewellery at Cober.

Criteria

What do we pay attention to?

Carat and purity - the higher the carat, the higher the value.
Weight - solid gold weighs more; hollow or gold-plated pieces weigh less
Condition - damage or remnants may lower the value.
Gemstones - size, colour, quality and whether they are natural or synthetic
Market price - we use current gold prices, so you get a fair price.

Do you work with fair-trade materials?

Our goldsmith works exclusively with circular gold. Circular means that we use responsible gold that does not involve unethical gold extraction from mines for our jewellery. For this, we work together with our regular Dutch partner. They have signed the “Responsible Gold Covenant’. Click here to read more about it.

We are jointly committed to an internationally responsible gold chain. The aim is that throughout the chain, from extraction to recycling, human rights, the environment and biodiversity are better respected.

How long does it take to make a piece of jewellery?

Our normal turnaround time for most orders is roughly 3 to 5 weeks but also depends on your requirements and design. Times of holidays and in the summer months the delivery time may increase somewhat. Complex designs or designs for which we do not have the required raw materials in-house may have a shorter lead time
In that case, we will first search for the necessary gemstones or other materials.
Because our gemstones can come from all over the world, this can also take a little longer as a result.

Can I have my old gold remelted?

This is certainly possible. If you bring your old gold to our shop, we will test it in your presence for authenticity and content. You will hear immediately what your old gold is still worth.

Based on this, we will sit down together for a new design or you can choose to surrender your gold at the current gold price.
Your own input is welcome and we can tell you all about the possibilities.
When you choose a new piece of jewellery, we will film the process of remelting for you so you can see what happens to your gold.

Where do our gemstones come from?

For more than 35 years, we have had an extensive network around the world with regular contacts, dealers and delvers. For our gemstone collection, we are always looking for the most beautiful stones across the entire spectrum. You will find just about every colour of gemstone in our collection. Cober is always looking for large and rare specimens. If you have a specific wish, you can submit a search request and we will keep you closely informed throughout the purchase process.
